Chili Concarne

 1 lb hamburger

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1 1/2 tablespoon Flour

1 1/2 cups tomato sauce

1 large can Red kidney beans with sauce

1 cup water

Chili powder to taste,  I use about a tablespoon, you might like more

pepper to taste


Brown hamburger drain grease, saute onions with garlic salt.  Mix hamburger and onions in large pot,  put 1 tablespoon flour over hamburger and stir well.  Add tomato sauce, kidney beans, water, Chili powder, and pepper.  Mix well and let simmer over medium low heat for about an hour.  Stir occasionally.


Beef Stew

 1 1/2 pounds of stew meat

6 to 8 carrots peeled and in chunks

6 to 8 potatoes peeled and in chunks 

1 can Cream of Mushroom soup

1 can Cream of Celery soup

1 - 8oz can of Tomato sauce

1 packet of Liptons Dry onion soup

2 Bay leaves


Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Put meat, carrots and potatoes in a large pot suitable for the oven.  Combine next 5 ingredients then pour over meat, potatoes, and carrots.  Cover and put into oven.  Cook for 5 hours, give a stir once in a while.

Four Layer Dessert

 Crust:  1 cup flour

             1/2 cup butter, softened

             1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) I use pecans

             Mix well.  Spread in 13 x 9 inch pan.  Bake 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven.  cool.

Layer Two:

            1 - 8 oz package Philadelphia cream cheese

            1 cup powdered sugar

            1 cup Cool Whip

            Mix well.  Spread over crust.  Chill

Layer Three: 

            2 packages (reg size) instant pudding mix. (suggested flavors: lemon, Chocolate, butterscotch, 

             banana, etc)  

            3 cups milk

            Mix the milk with instant pudding for 2 minutes.  Spread over cream cheese layer.  Chill

Layer Four:

            Spread remaining Cool Whip over pudding layer.

Refrigerate over night for best results.  (but can be done in the morning)

Peach Cobbler


Peaches, canned or fresh

Batter

1 stick butter or margarine - softened 

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup sugar 

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup milk


Sugar top

1 cup sugar 

1/2 cup water


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line 8x8 or 9x9 inch glass dish with peaches.   Mix batter ingredients together then spoon aver peaches.  Mis sugar and water together and pour over batter.  Put in oven for 1 hour or until top is light brown.


 

Poppyseed Chicken


4 Chicken breasts or what ever you prefer

1 cup Sour Cream 

2 Tablespoons Lemon juice

teaspoons Worchestershire sauce

2 teaspoons celery salt

1 teaspoons paprika

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper


1 1/2 Ritz crackers, crushed

1/2 cup butter, melted

2 Tablespoons poppy seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Pat chicken dry.  Mix the next 8 ingredients together in medium bowl.  Put chicken into bowl making sure they are completely covered in mixture.  Put in refrigerator overnight. (I also do this in the morning if I forget to do it the night before and it turns out the same)  

Put crushed Ritz crackers in a shallow pan.  Dredge chicken through crushed crackers and put on sprayed cookie sheet of glass pan.  Use a 1/4 cup of the melted butter and drizzle over chicken.  Bake for 45 minutes.  Take remaining melted butter and pour over chicken, sprinkle poppyseeds over chicken and return to oven for an additional 15 minutes.
