Granny Jean Brown's Currant Cookies

 1 cup sugar

1/2 cup shortening 

1/2 cup sour milk

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 3/4 cups flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 cup currants (washed and dried)


Mix well, Roll out till the thickness  of currants, drop in sugar then  place on parchment paper on the cookie sheet.   Bake at 400 degrees for about 9 minutes.
